Somewhere in Chicago a telephone rings…
“Hi Cheryl, it’s Ethel! Guess what?”
“What now, Ethel?”
“I found a place!”
“Okay? Found a place for what?”
“A butcher shop! It’s in University Village.”
“You do know they sell meat at the Jewel, Ethel. Why would I want to go all the way to Little Italy to buy meat?”
“Well you drag me to Maxwell Street to get pork chop sandwiches, and Luigi’s is right near by.”
“I don’t have to drag you, Ethel, you love to go! And, always have to bring back a load of useless crap. What’s so special about this Luigi?”
“I found out he invented the pork chop sandwich! That’s where you get the right kind of pork chops, and I bet we can get the recipe.”
“Dammit, Ethel! I just made soup, but now my mouth is watering for a pork chop.”

Here’s one for Mondays Finish the Story by Barbara Beacham. It’s based on the photo she provides and the first line of the story, which I used as the caption of the photo to start the story. I was going to say he was a butcher, but my friend Eric at MOMUS NEWS used that (and his story is a good one, check it out), so I made Luigi famous. The Maxwell Street pork chop sandwiches are pretty famous… actually invented by Jimmy Stefanovic.
